Online Video Popularity Rising
AND Relevant Video Ads Are Getting Closer
A recent study by Magid
Media Futures confirms that viewing of online video is
constantly increasing.
The study indicates:
52% of online Americans aged 12-64 viewed online video
once a week or more.
Daily usage within the same age group rose by 56% in 2006,
to total 14%.
This signals a clear message that there's money to be made
with online video.
Whilst previously it was mooted that video ads were best
used to demonstrate complex products, it seems video ads are
just a valuabel used by amateurs to boost sales of simple
consumer goods.
For instance, the 'I've Got A Crush'... On Obama video boosted
t-shirt sales exceeding US$20,000 in the video's first week.
But it's not just viral video campaigns.
Blinkx,
one of the world's largest video search engine, recently announced
the launch of a video ad platform named AdHoc. This platform
uses Blinkx's speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis
technology to understand video content more thoroughly and
match customized, TV-style ads to your audience on the video.
This means relevant video ad placement is getting even easier.
And time to take a new look at online video ads.
